The standard way a series works, is when a customer makes a reservation, we book them into the entire series – making one reservation for them in each class. And this especially makes sense if the series of classes is progressive – that is, each class builds on the class before. In that situation you want people to attend every class!
But there are times when you may also want to allow individual reservations in a class that is part of a series – maybe the program isn't progressive or also when a series hasn't fully booked; this can be a great way to boost your bottom line!
Punchpass allows you to decide how your Series booking works.
Allow Reservations for Individual Classes in a Series
To get started, the option to allow individual reservations needs to be turned on in the settings for the Series.
Follow these steps to allow individual reservations within a Series of classes:
Select the option to allow separate class reservations when creating a new series or editing an existing series.
Choose a date at which time Punchpass will start allowing individual reservations. If you'd like the option to start immediately, leave the date field blank.
For example, you could create a series that starts in a month, and then allow individual reservations when there is 1 week before the series starts.
Press Save.
The only other caveat is that if individual reservations are allowed, once the series has started customers can no longer book into the whole series - they have to book individually.
However, you (as the administrator) can still book them into the whole series if you want.
Customer Registration for Individual Sessions in a Series
Once individual reservations are allowed, your customers can book either individual reservations or book the whole series - until one of the series classes is full. Once that happens customers can only book individual reservations in any of the classes that still have space.
Here is how it looks for your customers:
Clicking through to the class details page, they'll see the following and can make their reservation.
Waitlists and Series
When creating a series, if the class your series is based on allows waitlists, the waitlist will be for the series only. We do not allow the individual classes in a series to have a waitlist.
This only impacts classes included in a series, so your other class times are not impacted.
Handling Payments for Individual Sessions
If you have enabled Series payment, customers who are booking for the full series will be required to pay. However, in order to require customers to pay for the single session they are booking, you'll want to make sure the class type the series is based on is set to require a pass to book.
