How do I change the owner of my Punchpass account?

When changing business owners, there are a few important steps to keep in mind:

  • Will you keep the existing Punchpass account or create a new one?

  • If you use Stripe, do you need to transfer ownership of that account?

  • Update the account contact information in General Settings.

  • Have the new owner reach out for training!

Who can make this change?

Changing the account owner will require the current account owner to log into Punchpass.


Changing the Designated Account Owner

Changing the account owner in Punchpass is a simple process. Each Punchpass account has one designated Account Owner, but you can transfer ownership to a different admin when needed.

To do this, you'll first create a new user account for the new owner, assign them Admin permissions, and then have the current owner update the account ownership settings.

Steps to Changing Which Admin Account is the Account Owner

  1. Create a New Admin Account for the New Owner:

    • Navigate to Manage > Settings > Instructors & Users.

    • Click the + New User button.

    • Enter the new owner's name and email address.

    • In the User Access section, select Administrator.

    • Click Save.

      An email will be sent to the new admin's email address, prompting them to confirm their login.

  2. Transfer Account Ownership:

    • The current account owner should log into Punchpass and navigate to Manage > Settings > Instructors & Users.

    • Click on the new admin's account name.

    • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Make this User the Account Owner.

Note: Once the account owner is changed, only the new owner can change account ownership.


Maintaining Operations: Updates to Your Business Information

There are a few other things you should review when your business has a new owner:

  1. Update the contact business contact information.
    In Manage Settings > General Settings, double-check the company email and address.

  2. Maintaining your Punchpass Subscription.
    In Manage Settings > Billing, verify the credit card that's used to pay for your Punchpass subscription.

  3. Transfer ownership of the business' Stripe account.
    Since Stripe collects all credit card payments for your studio, you'll want to be sure that proceeds are directed to the correct bank account.


Transferring your Stripe Account Ownership

Note: If you have ongoing memberships via Stripe, we recommend transferring ownership of the Stripe account to the new owner so the memberships will recur without issue. Then, the new owner can change the bank account information.

If you do not have recurring membership payments, you can simply disconnect the current account & let the new owner set up & connect their own Stripe account. Go to your Online Payment settings to take care of that.
