When changing business owners, there are a few considerations you'll want to make!
Things you'll want to consider changing include:
Are you keeping the existing Punchpass account?
Are you creating a new Punchpass account?
Changing ownership of your Stripe account, if applicable
Updating the account contact information in the General Settings section of your account settings.
Having the new owner reach out to us for training!
If your business is undergoing a significant restructuring, we recommend reaching out to schedule a call with the support team to review your business needs and identify specific next steps!
Changing which admin account is the Account Owner in Punchpass
In Punchpass, it's easy to update the user account that's identified as the account owner!
Here's how to change the account owner in Punchpass
Each Punchpass account has one user that's identified as the "Account Owner."
You'll create an account for the new owner, grant them Admin-level permissions, and then have the current account owner sign into their account and change which admin account is identified as the account owner.
Create a user account for the new account owner
From Manage Settings > Instructors & Users, press the + New User button to create an account.
Enter the persons' name and email address, and in the User Access section, select the option to identify the user as an Administrator, and press Save.
You'll now see the new account listed in the Users with Log-In Access section.
An email will be sent to the email address for this new admin account asking the person to confirm their login.
Note: Keep in mind that changing the owner is a one-way transfer. Once the new owner has been set, the prior owner no longer has the ability to change it -- the NEW owner is the only one who can do that.
Changing the Account Owner
Now let's make the new Admin user the account owner. The current account owner needs to make this change.
Click on the account name and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Press the Make this User the Account Owner button.
After the transfer, the prior owner will be classified as an admin. Please note that all admins on your account (including the owner) have similar access to setup and reporting features.
If you have questions about the different user types in Punchpass, please see this guide.
Next Steps
There are a few other things you should review when your business has a new owner:
In Manage Settings > General Settings, double-check the company email and address.
In Manage Settings > Billing, verify the credit card that's used to pay for your Punchpass subscription.
And last (but not least), transfer ownership of the business' Stripe account. Since Stripe collects all credit card payments for your studio, you'll want to be sure that proceeds are directed to the correct bank account.
Transferring your Stripe account ownership
Note: If you have ongoing memberships via Stripe, we recommend transferring ownership of the Stripe account to the new owner so the memberships will recur without issue. Then, the new owner can change the bank account information.
If you do not have recurring membership payments, you can simply disconnect the current account & let the new owner set up & connect their own Stripe account. Go to your Online Payment settings to take care of that.
