Switching a Customer's Membership

Whether a customer gives you a heads up or wishes to change mid-membership period, Punchpass can help you make the switch!

For Stripe Memberships

To charge the membership to the same credit card, click on the current membership and in the Payment section, press Create New Membership charged to this saved credit card.

You can set the start date, most users select either to switch immediately or the next renewal date for their existing membership for a smooth transition.

Once you have the new membership set up, if you are switching someone from one membership to the other, you will want to cancel the previous membership.

When canceling a membership, the current pass will still be active. This is ideal if you are waiting until their next renewal date to make the switch.

If you want to end the current pass immediately, press the button to Finish This Membership & Active Pass!

If you're moving a customer to a new membership mid-cycle, you'll most likely need to refund the remaining amount of their current membership pass. Here's our guide to issuing a refund with Stripe.

For Non-Stripe Memberships

The process to move a customer from a non-Stripe memberships to another membership is simply to cancel the current membership and assign the customer a new one.

When assigning a membership you'll have the option to change the payment method to a card if you'd like.

How to move someone from a non-Stripe membership to another membership

Navigate to the membership (Reports > Memberships and click the membership or from the customer account) and press Cancel This Membership.

Select the membership cancellation date and press Mark Membership as Canceled.

The membership is now canceled, but the last pass issued will still be active. If you're ending this membership immediately, press the button to Finish the membership & the active pass.

From the customer account, assign a new membership and select the desired start date.

If the customer wishes to switch mid-payment period, you can then:

Edit the renewal date of the new membership to match the renewal date of the canceled membership.
