Do you have a customer who has received a gift card and needs assistance with redeeming it? Once you have the gift card code, the process is as straightforward as assigning a pass.
Here's how to manually assign a gift card to a customer:
Start by Identifying the Gift Card Code
To help someone use their gift card, you'll want to confirm the unique gift card code. You can find this gift card code in a couple of places within Punchpass.
Locate Gift Card Codes Using the Discount & Gift Codes Report
If your Punchpass user account has admin-level access, you can view this report. This report can be found under Manage > Settings > Discount & Gift Codes > Gift Cards.
Locate Gift Card Codes from the Purchaser's Account
Active gift cards will appear as a "Gift card for [offer]" on the customer account of the purchaser. You'll see the gift card code noted on the overview page.
If a gift card has been redeemed, it will appear under the history tab of the purchaser's account.
How to Redeem a Gift Card Code on Behalf of a Customer
Redeeming a gift card for a customer follows the process of assigning a pass to a customer and then entering the unique gift card code.
Here's how to manually do this for your customers:
1. Manually Assign the Corresponding Pass
Navigate to the gift recipient's customer account and click Assign a Pass.
Select the corresponding pass and press Next.
2. "Select a Discount" as the Payment Method
You're now on the Assign a Pass page. To redeem a gift card code, in the Payments section you'll enter the gift card code as a discount and then identify the payment method as a "gift voucher."
Click the Select a Discount button.
3. Apply the Corresponding Gift Card Code
This opens a pop-up window. Select the code that corresponds to the gift card and press the Apply discount button.
You'll now see the selected gift card code applied to the pass. Gift card codes are the equivalent of a 100% discount for a pass.
4. Enter the Additional Information to Complete the Pass Assignment
To complete the process of identifying the payment method, you'll want to select the following options:
How is the customer paying: Cash, check, etc.,
Click on the checkbox indicating you've received payment,
How have you collected payment? Select the option for Gift Voucher.
Press the Assign Pass or Save button to complete the process of assigning the gifted pass.
5. The Redeemed Pass Appears on the Customer Account
For passes purchased using a gift card, we note the payment method on the customer account.
How Can I Review Redeemed Gift Cards?
Review Gift Cards from the Discount & Gift Cards Report
If you have admin-level access to Punchpass, you'll also be able to review Gift Cards under the Discount & Gift Cards report (Manage > Settings > Discounts & Gift Cards).
View Gift Cards from the Purchaser's Customer Account
Active and unused gift cards will appear on the purchaser's customer account until they are redeemed. Once redeemed, they'll appear under the History section of the purchaser's customer account.
For gift cards, the active date is the date the gift card is purchased. The expiration date is the date the gift card was redeemed.
In the example below, you can see the gift card was redeemed on the same day it was purchased.
