Free classes are a great way to build community and welcome new students to your studio. Punchpass makes it easy to designate any class as free, allowing you to track attendance without requiring customers to use their class passes or purchase tickets.
You can make any class in Punchpass a free class. Classes marked as free will be clearly labeled as "FREE" on your public schedule, making it easy for potential students to see these promotional opportunities.
Important: Marking a class as free does not retroactively change any previous attendance records. If you want to make a class free, please do so before taking attendance.
Options for Creating Free Classes
Free classes are flagged as Free on the public schedule.
Option 1: Create a Recurring Free Class
If you regularly offer free classes, set them up as part of your repeating schedule:
Go to Manage > Classes
When adding the class to your recurring schedule, select the Free Class option
Complete the rest of your class setup as normal
Option 2: Make an Existing Recurring Class Free
To change an already scheduled recurring class to free:
Go to Manage > Classes, click on the Manage the Schedule button
From the timetable, click the Edit button next to the class time you'd like to change
Click the Mark Class as Free button
From the pop-up window, select the date for the change to effect and confirm
Option 3: Make an Individual Class Free
For occasional free classes or special events:
Navigate to the class details page
Click the Actions dropdown menu
Select Make Class Free
Confirm your choice when prompted
Option 4: Free Classes for Ticketed Events
Yes, you can designate individual sessions of a ticketed course as free without affecting the ticket requirements for the rest of the series.
Reverting a Free Class to Regular Status
To change a free class back to a regular paid class:
Go to the class details page
Click the Actions dropdown menu
Select Change Back
Confirm your choice when prompted
What This Means for Your Students
When a class is marked as free:
Students can attend without using their class passes
The class is clearly labeled as "FREE" on your public schedule
Attendance tracking works as per usual
