This guide will help clarify how to quickly review Stripe refunds in Punchpass.

Using the Stripe Online Payments report, you can easily locate refunded transactions and view key details.

For further information, we'll cover how to navigate Stripe’s dashboard to examine specific refunds and understand Stripe's fee structure, ensuring you have a clear picture of each refund process.

Reviewing Stripe Refunds in Punchpass

You can quickly review a Stripe refund using the Stripe Online Payments report to find the transaction:

Note: There are several ways to navigate to a pass details page and review a transaction in Punchpass. This method is the fastest and easiest one we have found.

  1. From the Home page of Punchpass, click the Review Online Purchases button on the Stripe widget. Here's a direct link: https://app.punchpass.com/manage/purchases

  2. This opens the Online Purchases with Stripe report. Use the search feature to find the refunded purchase, and click on the pass name to view the pass details page.

  3. Scroll down to the Payments section on the pass details page. The details of the refund are displayed. To review the transaction in Stripe, click the View Charge on Stripe link.

Refunds can also be reviewed directly in Stripe. Here's how:

  1. Log into Your Stripe Dashboard: Start by signing in to your Stripe account. The dashboard is your command center for all transaction-related activities.

  2. Navigate to the Payments Section: On the left sidebar, click on Payments. This section lists all the transactions processed through your account.

  3. Filter for Refunds: Use the filter options to select Refunds. This will display only those transactions that have been refunded, allowing you to focus on the relevant entries.

  4. Review Individual Refunds: Click on any specific transaction to view detailed information. Here, you can see the amount refunded, the reason for the refund (if provided), and other relevant details like customer information and payment method.

  5. Export Data (Optional): If you need a comprehensive view of refunds over a specific period, consider exporting the data. Use the export feature to download a CSV file that includes refund details, which can be useful for further analysis or record-keeping.

Understanding Stripe Fees and Refunds

When processing refunds, it’s important to be aware of Stripe's fee structure:

  • Initial Transaction Fees: Stripe charges a fee for each transaction processed. This fee typically consists of a percentage of the transaction amount plus a fixed fee (e.g., 2.9% + 30 cents in the U.S.).

  • Refund Fees: When you issue a refund, Stripe does not return the original processing fee. Instead, the fee for the transaction remains with Stripe. For example, if you processed a $100 payment and paid a $2.90 fee, when you issue a refund, you will still incur that $2.90 fee, even though the customer gets their $100 back.

  • No Additional Fees for Refunds: Stripe does not charge additional fees specifically for processing the refund itself, meaning you won’t incur extra charges beyond the initial transaction fee.
