Note: Memberships are a feature of our Banyan and Redwood plans.

With Punchpass you can assign a membership and invoice the customer and you can also convert an existing membership to a credit card charge to set up automated invoicing.

If you've manually assigned a membership to a customer and now need to add a payment method, or if you're transitioning to Punchpass from another service, this guide will walk you through changing a membership's payment method to payment with Stripe.

Assign a Membership and Add a Credit Card for Invoicing

Once the membership is assigned to a customer account, you can click on the membership to open the details page and select Convert Membership to Credit Card Charge.

From here, you can either add the card information if you have it, or copy the link to share with the customer so they can add their payment information online:

When customers click the link to add their credit card information themselves, they will go to a page to add their card information.

Make sure they add their information before the membership start date!

When the membership begins, their card will be charged for their first membership pass in Punchpass.

You will receive an email notification when the customer has entered their payment information if you need to take additional steps.

Converting an Existing Membership Paid with Cash (or another method) to Credit Card Payments

Have a membership that's paid by cash or another method that you'd like to convert to Stripe for automated invoicing? Here's how to set that up:

From the customer account, click on the membership.

This takes you to the Membership Details page, please take a moment to review their membership passes.

When the current membership pass is marked as Payment Not Received, converting a membership to a credit card charge will result in the customer being charged for the outstanding pass.

If the current pass is marked as paid, adding the credit card information will charge the customer using this method when their membership renews.

Setting up Stripe invoicing to charge the card immediately

On the Membership Details page, press the Convert Membership to Credit Card Charge button.

A pop-up window opens with a warning message that when entering the card information, the current pass will be charged. If you don't want this to happen, please mark the current pass as paid.

Punchpass will start using the provided credit card for membership payments as soon as the information is added and the customer will be charged for the outstanding pass.

You can either enter the credit card information on this screen or send the customer a link to enter the information themselves.

When the membership is set to renew, the provided card will be used for future payments as well.

Setting up Stripe invoicing to begin with the next membership pass

On the membership details page, press the Convert Membership to Credit Card Charge button.

When the current pass is marked as paid, the pop-up window will show a message confirming that the customer will be charged when their membership renews.

You can either enter the credit card information on this screen or send the customer a link to enter the information themselves.
