Starting a membership on a specific date can be easily managed in two ways: by manually assigning the membership from the admin side or allowing customers to choose their start date.
Additionally, you have the flexibility to restrict customers from selecting a start date if needed. Managing membership start dates accurately ensures smoother membership management and aligns membership schedules with both customer preferences and organizational needs.
Let's dive in!
How to Adjust the Membership Start Date Settings
From Manage > Settings > General Settings > Membership Settings, you can prevent customers from selecting a start date for their membership.
By default, the setting to allow customers to select their membership start date is active. If you wish to change this, turn off the toggle and press Save to apply the changes.
With the customer start date selectin setting turned off, when a membership will become active when purchased.
How to Assign a Membership that Begins on a Specific Date
From the customer's account, press Assign a Membership.
Choose the membership offer from the dropdown menu.
Complete the membership assignment details. To select the date the membership should begin, press the calendar icon to open up the date picker.
Click the button to Assign Membership.
Now the customer's membership will start on the first of the month and will renew from that point forward according to the way you defined the membership!
How Customers Can Select a Start Date for Their Membership
You have the option to turn off the membership start date selection on the customer side by visiting Manage > Settings > Membership Settings.
Customers can also select the date to start the membership (if the membership doesn't include a free trial period) when they make their purchase online.
When customers select a future start date, they're not charged until their membership is scheduled to begin.
If a customer selected a different date than you or they would prefer, you can modify their membership renewal period to shorten or extend the recurring date, click here to see how!
How to Modify the Future Start Date for a Membership
Was the membership already assigned to a customer? You can update the start date for a membership that hasn't been begun by assigning a customer a new membership and deleting the old one. When creating the new membership, ensure to use the same payment method on file for convenience and consistency. This process retains the customer's billing information while correcting the start date.
Has the membership already moved into a paid pass? You can also modify the renewal date for existing memberships.
